Isabella “Isa” Obradovich (she/they) is an artist, educator, activist, and content creator currently exploring the influences of her upbringing in a tumultuous, multilingual household on the development of her preservice teaching practice at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in both Art Education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Her work employs a variety of media, colors, and textures, emphasizing the interactions between these layered elements as an allegory for the intersections within her identity as a first-generation, neurodivergent, and queer Latina in the United States. She often utilizes self-portraiture as subject matter, incorporating her ever-changing self (and perception of self within the world around her) as a motif in her work. Obradovich draws inspiration from the New Surrealist movement, habitually over-saturating her colors and situating her subjects in dreamlike settings. Her art serves as a testament to her perseverance and passion for self-expression despite the predetermined circumstances she continues to work within.
